On the evening of May 11, 2023, Bill passed away in the Woodlands, TX in hospital after a brief battle with Liver Cancer. Bill was 77 years old.
On November 8, 1945, Clem and Jayne welcomed William into the world. He would be Marianne’s little brother, and 2 years later, he would be the big brother to Suzanne. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA but would move to Texas when he was 8.
In 1963, Bill graduated from Holy Cross High School in San Antonio. He enlisted in the Navy and served the country faithfully until he was discharged in 1969. Following his stint in the Navy, Bill graduated from Texas A&M in Kingsville, Texas.
Bill’s life would be changed because of a blind date with a beautiful young lady. That one blind date would eventually become a wedding celebration when on January 2, 1981, Bill and Cathy exchanged their vows. Another adventure was inbound for the happy couple on January 25, 1983, when they welcomed Jim into the world.
When he wasn’t working, you would find Bill behind the key at his ham radio, known around the world as W5SG. And if he wasn’t at that desk, then he would be in the garage restoring a car. Whether it was his beloved 1957 T-Bird or any of the other countless creations, he loved everything about classic cars.
Bill is preceded in death by parents Clem and Jayne. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cathy, Son Jim, Sisters Marianne Winslow, and Suzanne (Bernie) Werner.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 2nd, at 2:00 pm at Forest Park, The Woodlands Funeral Home located at 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384. Following the service, the family would like to express their thanks to you by having you join them for a reception in the R.L. Wood Event Room.
