

He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to William Capers Grant, Sr. and Nola Sharp Grant on August 27, 1926. He lived in Beaumont, Galveston and San Antonio where he graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy and was discharged in 1946. He graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Business Administration in 1949. While he was attending college, he met the love of his life, LaVera Holladay. They were married in 1951.
In 1950, Mr. Grant went to Washington, D.C. where he started working for the Securities and Exchange Commission. He later transferred to the U.S. Treasury Department where he worked in the International Finance Section. Between 1956 and 1963, he served as the Assistant Financial Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in London. When his tour was over, he returned to the U.S. Treasury in Washington, D.C. LaVera and he settled in Arlington, VA until his retirement in 1983. In 1989, Bill and LaVera returned to Texas and have lived in The Woodlands for the past 27 years.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Dr. Silas Grant. He is survived by his wife, LaVera Grant; his younger brother, Frank Grant of Hillsboro, TX; his nephew, Stephen Grant and his wife, Barbara and their son, Scott and his family; his niece, Evelyn Parmer of Ft. Worth and her husband, Hugh and their children, Travis and Betsy.
