Bill was born into a military family on 11 June 1961 to William David Green and Patricia Fay (Sheffield) Wright in Richmond, Virginia. Being from a military family, he lived in many different places growing up, including New Jersey, North Carolina, Texas, and Germany. The family lived in Copperas Cove, Texas when Bill finished high school. He graduated in the class of ’79 from Copperas Cove High School.
After graduating high school, Bill pursued his passion and love for the outdoors by beginning his professional career working around Big Bend National Park. Eventually, he took his interests for the environment and honed his knowledge by earning a BS in Geology with a Minor in Business in 1995. This was the beginning of numerous professional certifications, trainings, volunteer work, and meaningful career opportunities. All the while, Bill always found time to load up his mountain bike, kayak, and camping equipment to escape to the outdoors like he had all his life. These excursions created countless stories of his adventures battling white water rapids, traversing down steep mountain trails, and other high-intensity activities that could easily captivate any listening audience.
Bill is survived by his parents, (Patricia Wright and William Green), two siblings (Kim and Kenny), two nieces (Madi and Megan), and his two happily spoiled travel companions – his two dogs (Bertha and Benny).
