This world lost a friend, coach, teacher, mentor, father, and husband on April 30, 2025. William Bade Ingram, known as Bill, was born on April 1, 1944 in Big Spring, TX and passed away in Conroe, TX after a period of hospitalization at the age of 81.
Bill led a very colorful life marked with great adventures and a growing circle of friends and family along with way. He spent his early years in West Texas as the son of Owen and Anne Ingram. Most of his early life was spent in Midland, Texas where his father was a prominent home builder in the growing community during the early days of Midland’s oil boom. He graduated from Midland High School in 1962 and went on to The University of Texas where he became a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity in 1963. His continued involvement in Delt reunions was a lot of fun for generating memories with friends that have become family.
Bill graduated from University of Houston with a degree in Business Administration in January of 1968. At this point, Bill had married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Brown Ingram, and they had travelled from Midland, TX to Austin, TX and eventually, to Houston, TX. Here, they began their family with three children and Bill started his career in commercial real estate. He formed Ingram & Associates in 1969. Anyone that rode in a car with Bill will remember stopping along the side of the road for him to capture a phone number or gather details about a “special” piece of property, a building, or a development tract that had potential!
Bill married Genie Ingram in 1997, after a courtship built on a love of music and dancing and an active social life. Genie joined Bill at Ingram Commercial Realty until his retirement in 2020. Genie was a loving and devoted wife and a partner throughout their marriage. Bill particularly enjoyed being cared for by Genie, enjoying his naps and spending lots of time with his dogs throughout the years, especially with his favorite little dog, Annie.
Bill was a lifelong coach, teacher, and mentor. His passion for teaching and developing young people to realize their potential was a hallmark of his life. He found joy in the teaching process and lit up when he had a chance to share his knowledge. As an accomplished golfer himself, Bill found great joy in passing along the game that he loved to his children and their friends. He was instrumental in the development of the Junior Golf program at The Woodlands Country Club that exposed many young players to the joys of competitive golf and the life lessons the game provided.
Bill’s life was marked by his unwavering drive for fun, always quick to find the humor in things. He was fully dedicated to family and found his greatest joy as Poppy, crawling on the floor and playing with his grandkids, usually forgetting he was the grown-up in the group! His passion for golf, and his joy for any sport, was quickly surpassed by becoming a Super Fan for all sports his grandkids were trying out!
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Genie, along with his children, Jeff (Sherry) Ingram, Julia (Jeff) Fetzer, and Jack Ingram. The joy of his later years included all his grandkids: Nicholas, Hayden and Ryan Fetzer, Marshall, Macy and Maryn Ingram, and Ava, Eli, and Hudson Ingram. He is also survived by his first wife, Peggy Ingram, as they continued to share a mutual respect and love for each other and shared in many celebrations in their “combined” family. He is also survived by his sister, Glee Ingram, and his nephew Cobi (Sarah) Bentley and their daughter Vivian. The family thanks Kyle Compass, who brought joy (and fun cooking experiences) to Bill in his final year. The friends made in Windsor Lakes, have been especially dear to Bill and Genie as they continued to travel and experience new adventures over the past few years.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 2:00pm CST at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home to celebrate Bill's remarkable life. A reception will follow immediately onsite. Bill Ingram will be missed but fondly remembered for his love, laughter, and lasting contributions to the lives of those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either First Tee of Greater Houston (firstteegreaterhouston.org) or The Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) in his memory.
