

Wayne was born March 9, 1918 in Shallotte, Brunswick County, NC to the late Charlie and Amanda Milliken Williamson.
Wayne served his country well during WWII. He volunteered for the Army and was inducted on March 12, 1942. He received the Eamet Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars for participating in 5 major battles including Normandy Invasions, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. Wayne received an honorable discharge and good conduct medal after the war ended on October 15, 1945 and gave God the credit for bringing him home safely. He married Blanche Rhodes on July 14, 1946. He retired from Thomasville Furniture Company and was of the Baptist Faith.
Wayne was pleased to be able to take the “Flight of Honor” to Washington, DC in 2011 to see the World War II Memorial.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Williamson of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters, Anne Long of Hallsboro, NC, Edna Dutton of Myrtle Beach, SC and Minnie Tharpe of Murrells Inlet, SC.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Blanche Rhodes Williamson of the home and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Thomasville Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with Reverend D.W. Long and Reverend Terry Boles. Burial, with full Military Honors, will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
