A resident of this area all of her life, Mrs. Varner was born on Sept. 17, 1932, in Davidson County to the late William McKinley and Bessie Edith Wade. She was of the Methodist faith and was an avid gardener. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, John William Varner in May of 2014.
Surviving is her husband of over 64 years, Jack Varner of the home; daughters, Janet Burkhart and her husband Roger of Thomasville and Lois Roberts of Archdale; son, Steve Varner of Trinity; seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Sylvia Crimm of Winston-Salem, Dorothy Coble of Greensboro, and Kathleen Payne of August, GA.
A celebration of Mrs. Varner’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
