Mr. Billy Gray Hester, 79, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 at his residence following a year of declining health.
Billy was born in Winston Salem, July 20, 1938. He was a proud Navy veteran. Billy retired from Parkdale Mills after 57 years of service. He attended Archdale Assembly of God, enjoyed fishing and playing with his grand-dogs, Sasha and Codie. Billy was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Wayne Hester.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Helen Sechrist Hester of the home; three daughters, Cathy H. Veiga and husband Craig, Tammy G. Ridenhour and husband Steve, and Mary Beth Hill; a son, Cliff Hester; two sisters, Jewel H. Sechrist and husband Austin and Barbara H. Osborne; a brother, Gerald House; fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Billy’s life will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Thomasville Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Billy Myers. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 12 noon until the service. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County.
