Mary "Droopy" Varner Woody

Mary was born on October 21, 1961 in Davidson County to Billy Ray and Mary Bell Varner. For many years, she had worked has a sander, a hairdresser, and later as a security guard. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mary especially enjoyed crocheting, watching soap operas, fishing, her dogs, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was truly the “life of the party” everywhere she went and will truly be missed.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Billy Ray Varner, and her husband Jimmy Woody.

Surviving are her son, Clinton Woody and his wife Ashley of Trinity; her mother, Mary Bell Varner of Thomasville; two grandchildren, Madison Woody and Anthony Parker; three sisters, Angela Trull of Trinity, Donna Kennedy of Denton, and Sheila Smith of Thomasville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4pm Wednesday, July 6th at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 7987 S NC Hwy 109, Thomasville, with Rev. Jack Hurley officiating. Interment will follow in Hughes Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Tuesday, July 5th at Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street and other times at the home of her mother.
