

Mr. Hale was born on April 18, 1949 in Tazewell County, VA to the late William Leonard and Ruth Louise Jackson Hale. He was a member of Heaven’s Gospel of Faith in Thomasville, where his wife, Rev. Shirley Louise Lowery Hale served as pastor. He especially loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife on November 14, 2013, and brothers, David Lee Hale and Ricky Allen Hale.
Surviving are his children, Ella Louise Hale Whitt and her husband Carl of Pounding Mill, VA; Roger Lee Hale, Sr. and his wife Lisa of Richlands, VA; and Richard Allen Hale and his wife Juanita of Archdale, NC; five grandchildren, Kristina Myers, Christina Hale, Roger Lee Hale, Jr., Carl Whit III (C.J.), and Matthew Whitt; two step-grandchildren, Justin Blake Reynolds and Whitney Leann Helbert; and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Glenna Gay Mabe and her husband Larry of Thomasville, NC, and Kathy Melinda Simpkins and Charlie Hollifield of Wallburg, NC; brothers, William Carl Hale and his wife Brenda of Thomasville, NC, James Burton Hale and his wife Billie of Richlands, VA, William Leonard Hale, Jr. and his wife Phyllis of Thomasville, NC, Donald Ray Hale and his wife Lou of Thomasville, NC, and Bobby Wayne Hale and his wife Melissa of Sophia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 11 am Tuesday, September 2nd at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home chapel in Richlands, VA. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Sunday, August 31st at Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, Thomasville, NC and also Monday, September 1st at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, VA.
