He was born on December 25, 1943 to William McKinley Hanks and Alice Bond Hanks in Carroll County Virginia. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Lester, Charles and James Hanks, sister Goldie Farmer.
Survived by sons; Doug and Brian Hanks, sister Mary Hanks, nieces Penny Hanks Garrett and Janice Gantt.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Saturday August 31, 2013 at Thomasville Funeral Home with a funeral service at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel, followed by interment in Free Pilgrim Holiness Church Cemetery in Thomasville.
