Vestal was born on November 23, 1949 in Carroll County, VA to the late Mary and William Tate. He had worked in furniture manufacturing for many years and was a member of Community Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on cars and lawnmowers, drag racing, and animals. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Deborah Farmer Tate of the home; daughter, Christy Glover and her husband Michael of Denton; son, Vestal William Tate and his wife Jennifer of Denton; two grandchildren, Evan and Eden Tate; sisters, Mabel Tate of Cana, VA, Katherine Ashburn of Dobson, NC, Shelby Phillips of Cana, VA, Imogen Dalton of Cana, VA, Gracie Goode of Lower Fork, VA; and brother, Junior Tate of Cana, VA.
A celebration of Vestal’s life will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, December 9th at Community Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Workman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Tuesday, December 8th at Thomasville Funeral Home.
