William "R.C." Garfield Ward

Mr. Ward was born on December 30, 1937 in Columbus County to the late James Martin and Mary Elizabeth Faircloth Ward. He and his wife, Nancy, were a truck driving team for many years. Mr. Ward was also a member of Kingdom Vision Ministries, where he served on the board of directors and was a head usher. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and loved fishing.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Carol Ward; son, William Martin Ward, Jr.; granddaughter, Candy Perry; great granddaughter, Ocean Perry; and two brothers, Leon and James Burton Ward.

Surviving are his children, Sheila Varner and her husband James, Cheryl Hill and her husband Ray, Steve Nobles, Danny Ward and his wife Sherry, Lenior Causey and her husband Austin, and Mary Parris and her husband Randy; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Ward; eighteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren.

A celebration of Mr. Ward’s life will be held at 10 am Thursday, July 7th in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, with Pastor Randy Parris officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Wednesday, July 6th at the funeral home and other times at the home.
