In the early morning of July 3 2017, in his 93rd year, our dear Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa passed away peacefully. Alex was predeceased by our mother, his loving first wife Anne of over 20 years, his beloved wife Ruthie of over 45 years and,his younger brother George.
Alex was born in Buffalo to Macedonian parents Eftim and Magda Christoff and moved to Toronto as an infant where he lived most of his life. After graduating from Central Technical School he went to Bermuda to work for an electrical company where he met Anne who was working as a nurse. He joined North York Hydro and after a progressive career became the Director of Consumers Service. After taking early retirement at age 55 he took up a new vocation as assistant to the Minister, Reverend Ron Nickel at Lansing United Church.
Alex was a humble, patient and honourable man, caring and kind. A sweet man who would often surprise us with his witty propensity for funny quips! We have cherished memories of camping and traveling across Canada and the US, the many large family gatherings, parties and dinners with his group of close personal friends and his close undying love of dear Ruthie.
He will be forever missed by his loving daughters Janet and Nancy Christie (and Paul) grandson Michael Alexander Hill(and Nelly) and granddaughter Madelaine Anne Werier (and Joel) and great-grandkids Kevin, Benjamin, Rachel and Samuel.
A long life well lived. Rest well in peace dad.
We are so grateful to his caregivers from Infinite Care: Chodak, Ugen, Tenzin and the staff at Canterbury Place Residence for their kind and exceptional caring during the last months of Dad’s life.
Donations in Dad’s memory can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
