(nee JALBERT)
April 14, 1932 – July 24, 2016
Anita passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Doug. Anita had a full and wonderful life. Family and friends will always remember her for her kindness, grace and faith in God. She was so proud of her ever-expanding family and simply hoped for each of them to live happy, fulfilling, and healthy lives.
Anita was the daughter of the late Aline and William Jalbert and sister of Diane Glock. She was born in Kitchener and spent most of her life in Toronto where she crafted a career in health services through various administrative support roles in hospitals, clinics and private practices. Her compassion and keen interest in patient health satisfied her strong need to help others.
Her greatest joy was her family, which included: four children and two stepchildren along with their spouses and partners, eleven grandchildren and, two great- grandchildren. This was her most precious legacy and she was loved and admired by all of them. She and Doug took every opportunity to bring the family together, whether it was at their home on Lake Simcoe or annual trips to Sanibel, Florida. These were always great events that were packed full of sports, games, and other forms of entertainment. Anita thrived on being an active part of the lives of her family and created a lifetime of warm and happy memories. We are all better people for having her in our lives.
Anita took great pride in supporting Doug’s passion for Rotary, which took them around the world on various projects and missions. In return, Doug supported Anita’s passion for ballroom dancing. In retirement, she and Doug continued to enjoy travelling and exploring the world.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported Anita over the past several years. They are particularly grateful for the tireless dedication and love of Anita’s caregivers.
A private ceremony was held on Friday, July 29th. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Rotary Foundation’s War against Polio or a charity of your choice. Condolences www.rskane.
