We are heartbroken to announce the death of Barry Wilson after a very sudden illness at the age of 83. Barry was married to his high school sweetheart Jean for 50 years before she passed away in 2012. He leaves behind his daughters Suzanne (Grant) and Sharon (Matthew). He was the proudest Papa to Nicole, Emma, Owen and Wyatt. Barry will also be missed by his brother Wayne (Renate) and his nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Fred and Maude and older brother Tom.
Barry had a long and successful career in the property insurance industry. In his retirement, Barry loved to travel and was happiest on one of his many hiking trips all over the world. He took up writing in his retirement and had several articles published in the Toronto Star and Globe and Mail. He loved woodworking and gardening and was great at both. He had a fantastic garden that was filled with many plants, most of which came from seeds he “borrowed” along his travels. He was a loyal friend and could be counted on by many.
Above all else Barry loved his family. He was our biggest protector and supporter. We loved him deeply and will miss him forever more.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 11 from 12 p.m. (noon) at the Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home (8088 Yonge St). A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Chapel. If desired, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada would be appreciated.
