Beniamino Marchesin

Benny was a devoted member of the family with a strong voice, strong hand and deep affection for his family and friends. Fourth in a line of seven siblings, he is survived by his sisters Irma (Sergio), Anna and Celestina (Gianni). Beloved uncle to Roberto (Patrizia), Arianna (Claudio), Susanna (Claudio), Roberta (Mario), Elvy (Genevieve), Gilberto (Patrizia), Antonella, Nives, and Mara (Eros). He is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews.

Benny rejoins in eternal life with his parents Umberto Marchesin and Vittoria Zago, siblings Antonio (Marisa), Marino (Luigina), Rina (Agostino) and nephew Daniele.

Born in Pianzano di Godega di Sant’Urbano, Italy, Benny immigrated to Canada in 1955 and settled in Toronto, Ontario, with his brother Antonio and his family. He was a man who possessed a strong work ethic. A shoemaker by trade, he went on to become a successful businessman as part owner of Dora Shoes Ltd. He loved to spend time with family and friends, and was a connoisseur in food and drink and the discriminating enjoyment of them. He took great pride and pleasure in home winemaking, salami and sausage making, picking wild mushrooms, gardening, and fishing, no matter what time of year. In previous years, he regularly attended the Veneto Centre to enjoy a night of cards with his friends. He also exhibited a strong passion for cycling and soccer, following the successes of his team, Inter Milan, until his final days.

Benny will be missed beyond measure to everyone who knew him.

Visitations for Benny have been entrusted to the Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home - 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill, Ontario L4J 1W3 (Tel: 905-889-8889) and will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Immediately following the visitation, a funeral service will take place in the chapel on site.
