Blair passed peacefully with family by his side, on November 21, 2023 at North York General Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Frances, and his son Craig (Gianna), and his grandchildren Gabriella and Talia. He is also survived by his sister Joanne (MacRae), and her children Jim, David, Robert and John.
Blair rejoins in eternal life, his parents Elsie and Wilfred Watterworth.
Blair will be remembered as a loving father who was devoted to family and loved every moment he spent with them. He was a CIBC retiree who worked in banking for 37 years. After a couple of months of retirement, he decided to drive a school bus. Bus driving was a part of his life for nearly 30 years, between school busses and coach busses. He loved spending time with people and the open road. He was involved in building many aspects of the Thornhill Community, including being an active member of the Thornhill Lions, and coaching various sports, where he affectionately earned the nickname of “coach”. As an active curler for over 60 years and curling instructor, he forged many relationships and truly adored his time curling at Bayview Country Club and most recently Thornhill Country Club. He felt at home on the ice as his passion for sports helped him continue curling into his late 80’s and “playing” hockey till the ripe age of 79, with the Thornhill Over 50’s.
The family would like to express deep thanks to the staff at North York General Hospital for their compassionate care.
A private service was held on Friday November 24th, 2023, and a celebration of life will be held in the Spring.
If you wish, the family asks you to consider a donation in memory of Blair Watterworth to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Jumpstart Canada.
