Adored mother to Alexandra and her husband Matt Bahen. Loving sister to brothers, Andrejs and Martin Elksnitis, sister-in-law Gail and cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews in Ontario and British Columbia. Dace was a determined, intelligent and passionate woman, a force of nature and an inspiration. A lifelong learner, she excelled at everything she put her mind to regardless of the challenge. Born in Latvia, she grew up in Argentina before arriving in Canada on June 19, 1959. She studied at the University of Toronto, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1969. Throughout her life she remained in close contact with her Latvian Sorority Sisters. Dace trail-blazed an impressive career at Bell Canada, demonstrating business acumen and versatility. She was multilingual speaking five languages and also multitalented, teaching herself many skills with intense purpose leading to eventual mastery. She was altruistic, readily sharing her knowledge, always offering a willing hand, a level head and a positive attitude. Her impact on people was immediate, as she radiated kindness and compassion. She will be sadly missed however her spirit will remain ever present in the lives of family and friends. As per Dace’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
