

David Edward Champion, born in Victoria, BC, November 15th, 1926, died peacefully surrounded by his family on December 4th , 2012 in Toronto. Survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dinah (nee Nesdoly). Wonderful father to Scott (and Tracy Adair) of North Bay and Blair (and Joni Allardyce) of Stouffville. The very best Grandpa to Hannah, Abigail, Hailey and Hope. Served in the RCAF during World War II as a firefighter, stationed primarily at the Lancaster Training Base in Brandon, Manitoba. Retired in 1990 from Oshawa Foods after working over 25 years as assistant produce manager at Food City. Thanks to the staff of Bayview Extendicare where Dave resided for the past two and a half years. The family would also like to thank Dr. Kassa and the entire staff of Wing-8W, North York General Hospital, for the compasionate care provided to Dave in his final few years. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 6th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 7th at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Interment to follow at York Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
