Dear Sharon, Steve, Elizabeth, Kathleen, and Ian: Although it has been some time since my last visit with you, I am heartbroken to learn of the sudden death of your beloved David. Please be assured of my prayers, which have been voiced here in Fonthill and around Niagara and well beyond. Receiving this news has certainly shocked me, and even though my connections with you have been scarce over the years, still I am feeling jolted indeed by the nature of such a tragedy. To your family, I did not know David, he was a friend of my daughter who is at Western and attended his funeral. I just wanted to say that everything I have read and heard about your son through my daughter and his friends, he was a great person and a great friend, and very much respected among his peers. I used to go to St.Roberts with him. We had a name that we would call each other every time we crossed ways to and from class or around school with friends. I was a classmate with David at St. Anthony's While I was in a grade a year older than him, we played on many of the same sports teams from gr. 5 - gr. 8 where I got to know him quite well. I have a long distance best friend, who was Dave's room mate and good friend.  I
never got the chance to meet Dave, despite looking forward to it for the past
couple of years.  However, my friend relayed countless stories of Dave's
character, to the point that I felt I did know him, at least a little bit.
I received many word for word accounts of the laughs they shared, and heard a
couple late night, one-sided heart to heart talks from Dave to my friend.. left
on my friends answering machine. These stories never failed to give me a good
laugh.
My friend described Dave as one of the most genuine, thoughtful, and loving
people he knew and without ever having met him, I grew quite fond of him and
often asked my friend about how he was doing.
Dave was the type of person that someone hundreds of kilometers away, who had
never met him, could somehow, grow attached to. I didn't have to meet him to
know that he was an incredibly special person and I can't imagine the heartache
that the people who were lucky enough to have had him in their lives, for any
length of time, must be enduring right now. I think the thing to try to keep in mind
is that you were the lucky people who got to share in his life, which is definitely something to smile about.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.   RIP Dave.

Thinking back on the final summer I had with Dave I could provide countless examples of times he showed what an exceptionally caring and thoughtful friend he was, however one particular night stands out.

If I recall correctly, it was back in June. I had been working a particularly long day, and due to the nature of my job, often was not able to squeeze in dinner. I was coming home very late and had not eaten anything for a long time. Dave had gone out on a sushi date with Steph and they were back at the apartment hanging out. I came in the door and said hi to them in the living room. Dave, as usual, asked how my day was and we joked around a little bit. I then headed directly towards the kitchen to satisfy my ravenous appetite. Before I made it there, Dave casually called out to me, "Hey bro I ordered you a roll to-go from Gosein, it's in a box on the counter." 

Excitedly, I opened up the Styrofoam box sitting on the kitchen counter to find my all-time favourite sushi roll, the Red Dragon, in all it's glory. I never asked him for it, he just knew, that was Dave. As I sat down at the dining room table ready to dive in, I vaguely recall saying something jokingly like, "Man, you don't know how much I appreciate this, I'm starving, you're my hero!" I never thought how much those words would ring true in a time like this. Dave is and was a hero. It's incredible how this simple act of spontaneous thoughtfulness and generosity will resonate in my memory as long as I live, and serves as a reminder to us all, about the simple gestures that can play such a major role in our relationships with the people we care about.

Summer 2010 was perfect bro. My amigo from 1st year Spanish moving in to live atop the city for my last few months in London. Patios all day. Watching the Dutch rise to the occasion in South Africa and painting the town Oranje at night. Teaming up in the kitchen to blend up protein shakes and eating Gosein Sushi on the reg. 

It was no surprise you had an entourage that would put Vincent Chase to shame. Everyone fed off your energy and infectious presence. You'll be physically absent from here on out but there's not a chance that what you have instilled in each of us will ever die.

To the Parents and Family of David Edmondson, I was a friend of Dave’s at the University of Western Ontario before I returned to B.C. after second year. Over these two years, I had the privilege of getting to know Dave both personally and through our extensive group of friends. Although we had lost touch in the last two years, whenever I think about my times at Western, Dave’s huge smile comes to mind. Remarkable in character and spirit, Dave had an impact on everyone he was a friend with at Western, myself included. During the times we spent together, he was always positive in nature no matter what the situation. He never made anyone feel un-included and when the party was at his house, everyone was invited. He always had a moment to spare to talk or catch up whether in the gym, walking to class, at the bar, or on the street in the freezing cold Ontario weather. It has been so hard for me to accept that such a genuinely nice guy such as Dave is no longer with us. A true ‘Biggie’ fan, a loyal friend to all, and an all round amazing guy, I will truly miss Dave and will do my best to be more like him as time goes on. Both of my sons Jordan and Julian are devastated by this inconsolable tragedy. Your son was so embraced and loved by my two sons with the best buddy memories to cherish for a lifetime. Even our family golden lab Prancer knew and loved Dave, all the walks he would personally take Prancer on and giving her her own cheeseburger when they went to MacDonalds. "What do you want to eat Prancer?" he would ask her. Dave was the natural leader in the house for the two years that Jordan lived with him and set a good example for many students who attended the big parties that were hosted. As a mother, I immediately put body guards out on both my full grown sons to protect them, however, we cannot protect them after they leave the nest, though I WISH WE COULD SHIELD THEM AND LOCK THEM UP. This leaves us powerless over the destiny our little loves take. I am so sorry and if you need me for anything please call me even at 4am, I will be there for you!!!! Anytime!!!! FOR ALWAYS!

I was David's TA a couple of years ago at UWO, and while I didn't get to know him well, I did get the impression that he was a good kid; well liked by his peers.
