Although I never had the pleasure of knowing Prof. Williams, I do know his daughter, Carol, and son-in-law, Greg.  From all I've read and been told, this is distinctly my loss.  What a pioneer and kind soul.  I certainly hope I get the chance to meet you in Heaven, sir.  May your family continue to be blessed by your legacy.      

May God bless your family in your time of need.  Keep your faith in him and he will surely will.....

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Don.  Don was such a interesting, interested gentleman.  
On the occasions I visit with my mother, Don was always near by for a quick conversation, a funny anecdote or simply a smile.  I know that he brought a great deal of spirited debate to the residents of Viva - since I found myself caught up in more than a few of them.

A one of a kind gentleman who will be truly missed.

To Mrs. Williams, Carol and the Williams Family:

My heart is heavy and words seem so inadequate to share in your sorrow. I vividly remember my only visit to Toronto. Mr. William joined Carol and me on a quick trip to the cabin. It was  there that I had the opportunity to experience such engaging conversations with such a well-rounded, astute and friendly gentleman. Thank you Carol for this priceless moment. 

Mr. Williams undeniably shaped the character of his children in the most positive manner. As I continue to experience Carol's love, generosity, kindness, compassion, thoughtfulness and commitment to excellence, I will remember to pay homage to the "remarkable" legacy of a remarkable man.

You will always have  a special place in my heart as a powerful and faithful prayer warrior. Through your exemplary spiritual life, you have taught me that God is able. And during this time of sorrow your testimonies will give you strength and sustain you.

Carol:
You are who you are because of the devotion and tireless commitment of your father who sought the very best for his children. I am honored to be the recipient of his  labors by  calling you my dearest friend. During this journey, I will be the angel who lifts you up when it seems your wings have forgotten how to fly. It is with deep sadness that I receive the news of the passing of Professor Donald Williams, a gentleman who impressed me with his vast knowledge of social structures, his sound grasp of our socio-political dynamics and his enduring curiosity and love of learning. I remember the discussions we would have about the cultures and contributions of the people of Africa and the African diaspora. An intellectual par excellence, he was always respectful of alternative positions and listened with avid interest.

On behalf of my wife and my entire family, I send warm condolence wishes to his dear wife, Doreth, who always entertained us with elegance and grace when we visited their beautiful home, and to his children and grandchildren whom he never tired of talking about with great love and pride. May the Lord grant you the fortitude to bear the loss. May God grant him eternal rest and perpetual peace.

On behalf of our ancestral families - Irving, Blackwood, Gregory - we send heartfelt condolence to the family of our beloved cousin, Professor Donald Williams, on his passing. Our family roots stretch far beyond the seas, into the distant past, into his native homeland of Jamaica where Donald inherited his father's deep love for our Grandmother, Cousin Milly, our mother, Miss Joyce and our Aunt Dorothy. When he met us children - Thelma, Connie, Carol and Oswald - here in Canada, he showered that same love on us and remained a faithful bulwark to us in good times and in bad. He was at my wedding forty years ago to raise a toast on my behalf, he kept my father and mother company throughout the years, exchanging down home stories with them and making them laugh and he was there for us at their dying. As distinguished and elevated as he became, he never forgot his roots and always made us feel welcome.

We shall miss his charm, his eloquence, his wit and his gracious spirit. We rejoice in the knowledge that he has found rest in Heaven above. We pray that God will strengthen those he leaves behind - dear Doreth, Rodney, Laura, Carol and Eden, the children and grandchildren of whom he was so proud. May his dear soul rest in perfect peace. Amen

My sincere condolences to Uncle Beres's family - Aunt Dor, Rodney, Laura and Carol and all the grandchildren.
I was saddened at the passing of Uncle Beres. He was the only uncle I knew. He was instrumental in my development and we shared many heart warming intellectual discussions. I am wiser because of him. I will miss him and my prayers are with you at this time.

I’m struggling to find the words …words I know that cannot begin to express my profound shock, disbelief and sadness on hearing of Donald’s passing.  Donald, our dear and loving cousin; my grandmother, his father – the loving bond that begun there continues to this very day.  We could talk, me and Donald and we could laugh...long and deep, real deep!!  I will miss our talks and I will miss you Donald.  May your precious soul rest in God's perfect peace. Doreth, Laura, Rodney, Carol and Eden know you are all in my heart and prayers during this difficult time.

My sympathy to the family for Don's passing. Don and I met for the first time in the mid nineties and we became friends. To me he was like an older brother. He will always address me as 'brother "D". Don was the consummate teacher for every thing he did and said had a reason and a purpose from which to draw knowledge. Let me share this poem with you - 

Life is Forever! Death is a Dream

If we did not go to sleep at night

And the joy of watching a new day break

Dear Mrs. Williams, Carol, Eden, Rodney, Laura and Family, 

On behalf of Caryn, myself and our family please accept our sincere and heartfelt condolences on the sudden passing of your beloved husband, father and grandfather. We were shocked and deeply saddened to learn of his passing this past weekend. Mr. Williams was a kind and gentle soul and a brilliant intellect. He was someone who exuded charm, elegance, class and warmth in every interaction with those of us fortunate enough to know or learn from him. He was very much a second father to me in my childhood and I always enjoyed sharing a laugh or story with him or gaining a pearl of wisdom from him over a pitcher of the famous Williams homemade lemonade in your home. I hope that you are all able to take great comfort in the wonderful memories that you have of Mr. Williams and in knowing that there are many people who care deeply about your family and are there for you in your time of need.
