This is such a shock, sorry to hear of Douglas passing. Legal Aid Office(Scarborough)

Doug and I worked at the same court house. I didn't know him very well but we would always make small talk here and there. He seemed like a very kind and friendly person. My respect and condolences to the family at this tragic time. Doug was a nice man. May he forever rest in peace.

To Doug's family: I was shocked and saddened today to learn of Doug's untimely passing. I have known Doug as a colleague with whom I have worked over several years doing per diem work in the Duty Counsel office. During all that time, he was one of the hardest-working people I have ever met, and despite his sometimes gruff exterior, always did his very best for the clients involved. He was a colleague and a team player in every sense of the word, and was always ready to help. My very sincere condolences to all of you on your enormous loss. I used to work as a court reporter at College Park and had many occasions to observe Doug at work as duty counsel. He was a true advocate for justice and his clients and always a professional. I am very sorry for your loss. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

I am sad and hurt to learn of Doug's sudden passing. I had known him for 2 years as a wonderful person who always made my work easy when he walked into court. I really did look up to him and made me wish to become a lawyer one day. The news really shocked me and I can't explain how upset I am, I can only wonder how his family is taking it. May he rest in peace and God bless him.

I am so very sad to hear about Doug's passing. I first came to know Doug through his work at the Duty Counsel Office and greatly appreciated his sense of humour and caring he had for his clients. He spoke fondly of his hockey playing days and was always very concerned about his mother. Never did i hear Doug make a disparaging comment about any of his colleagues which is a rare attribute indeed. Goodbye Doug.

My deepest sympathy to Doug's family. Doug was one of the hardest working lawyers I had met, and one of the true "characters" of the criminal justice system. He was also a friend. Whenever he came to Scarborough, we usually shared a story about our huskys, or could have a quick chat about the sorry state of the Blue Jays. He was a good person who passed too early. I'll miss him.
