Ev enlisted in the army in 1940 as a Private and was discharged in 1945 as a Major. Ev was a D-Day Veteran of WWII and was a member of the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders (SD&G) and attended reunions yearly.
Ev worked at The Toronto Dominon Bank for 45 years and when he retired he said "I don't know how I found time to work.", as he lived his retirement years to the fullest.
