

Peacefully passed away at home on the morning of Wednesday, January 22, 2025, in his 97th year. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annabel (McCarthy). Adored father of Leo Marchildon and Ann-Marie Marchildon-Fletcher (John). Cherished grandpa of Lucas, Jessica, Liam and Quinlan.
Born in Lafontaine, Ontario, Florent was the son of the late Edmond and late Ernestine (Belcourt) Marchildon. Eldest of thirteen, he was brother to Georgette Jaiko (the late Roger Jaiko and Jack Weaver), the late Beatrice Moreau (the late Leonard), Rejeanne Marchand (Jean Baptiste), the late Guy (the late Rose), John (Pauline), the late Justin, Rose-Marie Dorion (the late Donald), Richard (Ann), the late Joseph (the late Debbie), Louis (Diedre), the late Jacques (survived by Joyce), and the late Renè (survived by Elaine).
Uncle Florent will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Florent worked as an accountant with Revenue Canada for over 35 years. He was known for his extraordinary kindness, exceeding generosity, impish sense of humour, and fondness for sweets. Florent was a pillar to his family and his parish community, always willing to help those in need. He will be greatly missed.
Special thanks to the wonderful nursing staff and caregivers at Delmanor Northtown as well as HomeInstead, who took such good care of him, especially this past year.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26th from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home at 8088 Yonge Street in Thornhill. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 27th at 11 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church at 75 Churchill Avenue in Toronto.
