Friedrich-Wilhelm Feuerriegel

Friedrich (Fred) passed peacefully on January 19, 2025, at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. He is survived by Hanna, his wife of 71 years, his children Randolph Feuerriegel (Jude) and Emy-Lu Mugnieco (Sal), his grandchildren Sarah Atkinson (Matthew), Adrian Mugnieco and Julian Mugnieco (Victoria), and great-grandchildren Isabelle and Alyssa Atkinson. He is also survived by his brother Gerhard Feuerriegel (Irmgard) of Worth, Germany.

Fred is pre-deceased by his parents and his 4 siblings.

Fred emigrated from Hamburg, Germany to Alberta in 1951, soon to be joined by his wife Hanna, and there he found work as a payroll clerk on the railway. The family then moved to Toronto in search of a better opportunity with Imperial Oil where Fred found his vocation in their fledgling IT department of the 1960s. Fred and Hanna remained in Toronto to build their lives.

Fred loved his lifelong partner Hanna, our mother, loved his children and their families, and adored his great-grandchildren; his face would light up whenever he talked about them.

Fred led a full life with his wife and family, including: Skiing at Skyloft Ski Club in Uxbridge, building a family cottage in Haliburton, travelling the world, and spending some well-earned winter months in central Mexico. Fred and Hanna’s great passion for classical music led them to the Women’s Musical Club of Toronto where he volunteered his time and technical expertise and was integral to the development and publication of the History Of Concerts And Performers. He made many good friends over the years, and always made sure to end the day with a good glass of wine.

The family would like to express deep thanks to the Cardiac, ICU and Emergency staff at Sunnybrook Hospital for their compassionate care.
