Genoveffa was born in Santa Lucia, Cervaro, Italy on March 18, 1936, the 5th of 10 children. She shared many stories, both happy and difficult, of her young life experiences growing up in Italy during the war. She worked hard and made many sacrifices to survive in her early and formative years, ultimately choosing to move to Canada with her husband and young son in August 1963, in hopes of a better life and more opportunity. Together, Genoveffa and Nello achieved a wonderful life and family living in Willowdale the rest of her life, with her son and daughter.
She will be remembered for her strong faith in God, her love of red flowers, her beautiful smile and her ability to make everyone laugh.
She loved to bake bread, pizza and her special twist cookies, which we all looked forward to eating.
The family would like to express deep appreciation to everyone that visited and provided their support to Genoveffa and her family. A special thank you to all the medical staff and caregivers, especially Maryam, Rachel, Amy and Perminder, for their compassionate care, especially in the last 3 months.
A visitation for Genoveffa will be held at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home - Thornhill on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Paschal Baylon Church on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 9:30am. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
