It is with deep sorrow, and much affection, that we mourn the passing of our beloved Georges (Kevork) Yeremian, 94 years old, of Vaughan, Ontario, on January 18, 2024, cherished husband of Ashken Yeremian (predeceased).
Georges was a dedicated son and brother, a devoted husband and father, and a beloved grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a proud man who believed in the importance of safeguarding and maintaining the Armenian heritage and instilling the love and significance of all aspects of Armenian culture, not only in his children and grandchildren, but also in everyone he met. He had the foresight to move his family halfway across the world, and was always grateful for the safe and opportune lands that Canada provided. He was a founding member of the Armenian Catholic Church of Toronto and a leading figure in the Armenian community, particularly the Knights of Vartan. Georges was an honoured alumnus of the Aleppo Mekhitarian School and sat on its central committee for organizing the Mekhitarian Boy Scouts. He was also an expert in the field of carpets and textiles, and a founding member of the Textile Museum of Toronto. As a self-educated man, who spoke six languages, his accomplishments were many. He will be fondly remembered for them, but especially for his loyalty to his adopted country of Canada and his steadfast dedication as a son of Armenia.
Georges is predeceased by his loving wife, Ashken, and leaves behind his children, Pierre (Linda) Yeremian, Arpi (Frank) Greco, Ara (Lisa) Yeremian, his grandchildren Arman (Taline Naranian) Draginov, Taline Yeremian, Alex Greco, Arden Yeremian, his great-grandson Leo Draginov, and his brother Joseph (Janet) Yeremian.
Keesher pari, Baba. Your infectious sense of humour will be missed. You will be forever in our hearts.
