

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Gerald Wrong on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of 52 years of Mary, father of Tracy (Marc) and Jason (Cate) and grandfather of Samuel, Mélanie and Lauren. He leaves us with cherished memories of his sincere kindness and caring of others and his unwavering patience.
Gerry graduated from the University of Toronto in Civil Engineering in 1951. He joined the Department of Highways (now the Ministry of Transportation) immediately after graduation and worked in several areas including Soil Surveys, Pavement Performance, Pavement Design and Construction. Gerald Wrong, P.Eng., retired after 38 years of service.
In the late 1950's and early 1960's, AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) established a test road in Ottawa, Illinois to study the performance of pavement structures of known thickness under moving loads of known magnitude and frequency. Gerry was assigned to this Road Research Project and assisted in obtaining Test Information for various Test Sections over a period of two years.
Friends and family may visit at the Jerrett Funeral Home - Vaughan Chapel, 8088 Yonge Street (south of Highway 7) on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. A celebration of Gerry's Life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 11:00 am., with visitation taking place one hour prior. Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family as your expression of sympathy. On-line condolences may be made here and memories of Gerry may be shared.
