A long life well-lived came to a peaceful end Nov. 8, 2015. Caring, strong and generous, Jeannette was an inspiration to all, particularly for her energy, service to others and pursuit of her beloved tennis well into her 80s.
When she wasn’t delivering meals, chauffeuring cancer patients or tending the sick as a registered nursing assistant, she was at the ballet, symphony or ice show. Or digging, weeding, knitting, riding her bicycle or dog-walking in the woods. And flying back to England to visit family.
Healthy and active for most of her 91 years, Jeannette leaves a rich legacy of happy memories and the many lives she touched. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Carola and son Antony as well as grandchildren Taryn, Nikki, Kyle, Karin and Debbie, and great-grandchildren Olivia, Henry, Sydney, Evan, Kylee and Taya. Predeceased by her brother Keith, she is survived by her sister Yvonne and brother Ian in England.
Jeannette’s family is grateful for the compassion and care she received at Extendicare Port Hope during her final days. In accordance with her wishes, her body has been donated for research at the University of Toronto.
Friends are invited to gather with family on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 10 to 11 am at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Memorial Service will follow in the R.S. Kane Chapel at 11 am. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sick Kids Foundation or to the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
