I had the pleasure of hosting Mr. and Mrs. Clark on a trip they took to Mexico City in 1999. They were wonderful company and a joy to be with. John´s sketching, and inquisitive, searching mind made him a delightful travel mate, just as he was, I suppose, a great partner in this journey through life. It was a pleasure to know him and I relish the times our families have shared together.

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Mr. Clark. 
He and Mrs. Clark have been wonderful and involved members not only of our families lives but of the community as a whole. 
He will be deeply missed.

John was a remarkable man who made a great contribution to Leaside United as a whole and in particular, to the Spirit Alive group. It was a privilege to know him and we will miss him dearly.

Our deepest sympathies to Aunt Joyce, Barb and Dave, Janet and James, Ken and Jayla and the 5 grandchildren on the loss of a very special man, our Uncle John. He was a warm, welcoming, calming and loving person and he left a lasting impression on everyone. He was so caring and sharing and a treasure to have in the Lewis family. He complimented Joyce and together they made a fantastic team in life. As the one who got to marry into the family, I gained a favourite uncle and aunt and I was thrilled to have over 30 years as his niece-in-law. Chris was lucky to have him for so much longer in his life and we shall miss him very much but our lives are so much richer for getting to learn from him and his extensive experience in all aspects of life. You made an impact on so many lives, John and you leave us with beautiful and lasting memories of your soul and your personality.

Patricia, just saw your message..is this the wonderful Uncle John and Aunty Joyce we sat with at Greg's and Brit's wedding?..I can totally understand why they were so dear to you..they were truly a joy to be around and being with them was like being with people we had known for a long time.. we were even on the same train back to Toronto, too..
It was truly a blessing to have met them..we truly have to be thankful for the wonderful companions God gives us on our life's journey.  May Uncle John have eternal rest and peace!  Thank God for the wonderful memories of a life well-lived that he has left behind!!  HUGS!  God bless!

Uncle John has been a wonderful constant my entire life. He was kind, compassionate, informed, engaged, principled, passionate, cheerful, warm and always welcoming. He remained youthful in his outlook; he never grew old. This is a profoundly sad time and I will miss John very much, but it’s heartening to know that he lives on in all of you.

I came to know John quite well since I first met him almost 17 years ago, and I highly respected him and valued our relationship.  John will be missed. I wish Joyce, his children and many grandchildren the best at this difficult time.

With great sadness I learned the news about John's passing.  There are no words to express my most heart-felt condolences to you, your partners, children and extended family.  I feel privileged to have met John and all of you and wish to send you my thoughts and prayers at this time of extreme sorrow.


John was chair of the Education and Students Committee of Toronto Don Valley Presbytery when I was a candidate for ministry from Presteign-Woodbine United Church. His wisdom, sense of humour and dedication meant the world to students in his care. I really appreciated his support during my journey toward ordination. John was a lovely man, who will be missed by all whose lives he touched. RIP John, and may God bless.

It was always a delight to meet you and John together  (at Joseph A’s events).  He certainly, from the notes was in an interesting field of work; and I remember that he was involved in various ( over the years- numerous) community efforts.
Losing one’s best friend is extremely difficult.  Yet, death of the body is prepared for us as we see the changes occurring in the body, and based on age and energy-realize that the body cannot recoup.

He will always be  with you. Not only through memories.  Also his Spirit can now be “beamed over”/ like in Star Trek.  I believe this literally; he can very often be beside you and within you--- Spiritually yet  also manifesting as an energy outside your body. (I”ve experienced this with my Mum. It is different for each of us in manifestation, I’ve heard her voice only once /but it was very clear and SO her... More often I feel her beside me).

Dear Aunt Joyce , Barb, Janet and Ken.
It is of great sadness that we learned of Uncle John,s death. He was almost like a father to all the nieces and nephews.

My sympathies to all of John's family and friends.  Growing up it was not all that often that I met and got to know John, but on the occasions when I did I was always impressed with what a friendly and likeable man he was.

I am sure that he will be greatly missed by those closest to him as he is remembered and respected by all who knew him.

John and Joyce made me so welcome when I joined Leaside United Church over 20 years ago. I was new to Leaside and also a new mother. I joined the Out of the Cold program and enjoyed my time immensely working with the Clarks and others from Leaside United at Eastminster on those cold winter mornings. From there my children joined the Junior Choir and were involved in the Christmas Pageant for many years. John was always there helping out - it seemed he had his finger in everything that happened at LUC. John, you will be missed and I send my condolences to your family.

We are deeply saddened to hear of John's passing.  John was a dear friend and a fellow chorister from Leaside United.  His love of life and fun-loving nature endeared him to everyone he met.  Always quick with a joke, he made time for the important things, his family & friends, and offered his many gifts to our church community.  Thank you John, you are in our hearts forever. It is with deep sadness for me to learn of John's passing. I have many wonderful memories of John and how he, Joyce, and his family, accepted my husband Adrian and myself into his home with open arms.  We go back many long memorable years of gatherings at our house in North York to fun filled events at Lake Simcoe and Christmas dinners at his home.  My how he loved to 'methodically' remove the meat off that turkey. My condolences to Joyce, his family and his many friends. To me, John was like a brother I never had. I will make every effort to attend his celebration.
