I was saddened to learn of Johhny's passing.I got to meet him through his many visits to Kawartha Settlers' Village in Bobcaygeon. He was a strong supporter of the Village through contributions of artifacts and funds.He had a cheerful disposition and I enjoyed chatting with him.The beautiful home on the edge of Bobcaygeon is a lasting tribute to the Fox family. We send our condolences to the family.Regretfully we were unable to attend,but our thoughts and prayers are with you today.John and Fred go way back,to the time John and his wife bought the Thurston farm in Bobcaygeon.Fred was just a young boy at the time,but through the years they still chatted ,and Fred was around if he was ever needed.Pam had many conversations on the telephone about many topics with John,when he would call to ask Richard for assistance,that's our oldest son,to help with chores around the house.Richard lost his Grandpa at a very young age,and he thought the world of John.They had many talks,and Richard loved to hear his many stories.Richard learned many things.We also had the pleasure of celebrating his 90th birhday with him at the Fenelon Falls Legion.We will miss John,as a neighbour and a friend.

My father and I owned and operated a mechanical repair shop consecutively since 1967 just down the road from where John and Mary came to live in Bobcaygeon. I offered mechanical expertise and service to some of their fleet of vehicles and that of family members. It was a challenge sometimes to keep the big black Cadillacs running smoothly as they became John's pride and joy. Whenever I met or hailed John on the street  or in a store I enjoyed hearing of his latest adventures. I would like to offer my condolences to family and friends with the passing of John. I will try to keep this as short as possible but that will be hard to do . I worked with John in the "overhead " dept of toronto hydro . I was lucky enough to work directly under his "wing " on the line gang . What a great mentor to have for me to become a lineman A. .John then went into the trouble room . I retained a lot of his vast knowledge of the line trade and sure made it easier for me .When your Dad retired ,well his thoughts were not just to relax and take it easy. No ,he bought a farm & started farming . He wasn't going to sit around "flipping the channels "!! John would always talk about the cruises that him and your mom would always take in jan, or feb each year & also their summer trips in their travel trailer . I will close this now & leave a little condolence message ---Death leaves a heartache no one can heal-love leaves a memory ,no one can steal . Well john ,you have done more than your share in your life time . RIP my friend phil .reid

Uncle John, what a wonderful man. His larger then life presence will be missed forever. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
