John Tierney

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the age of 82. John, beloved husband of Anna for 53 years. Loving father of Linda and her husband John McAlpine and Sylvia and her husband James McGovern. Adored Grandpa of Clare and Michael McGovern and endeared Papa John of Callan and Erin McAlpine. John is survived by his siblings Angela, Anita, Francis and Vincent and predeceased by his sister Rita. John came to Canada in 1957 from Ireland and had a distinguished career at Xerox for over 20 years. He loved spending time in his garden, writing poetry and following the markets. He will be missed by all of his family and many friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 27th at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic Church (3220 Bayview Avenue, north of Finch). Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations to Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
