It is with deep sadness, but also wonderful memories, that the family of Leonard John Linton announce his sudden passing at Sunnybrook Hospital, on Tuesday July 19, 2022 at the age of 88. He would have loved knowing that his entire family surrounded his bedside as he quickly succumbed to a weakened heart, only to be greeted into his Eternal home by the loving embrace of his Lord and Saviour.
Leonard is survived by his “one-of-a-kind” wife Norma, whom he was married to just two weeks shy of their 67th anniversary; his sons Graham (Connie), Randall (Elisabeth) and Fraser (Kathy); grandchildren Brittany (Andrei), Jessica (Cameron), Connor (Annika), Carter, Matthew and Brigette; and great grandchildren Chloe, Madelyn and Christian. He was predeceased by granddaughter, Elisa.
Soon after starting a family, he was counselled by his psychiatrist to embrace his entrepreneurial potential by creating his own business, with the hope that it would help him deal with his mental health challenges. On July 1, 1963, he informed Norma that he sold his new Pontiac and purchased a VW Beatle, so he could fund his new enterprise and provide for his young family after being turned down by all the major banks. Len named his company Interior Care and he quickly became respected in the specialty cleaning industry. In time, his three sons joined him, and made their own mark on his business. Now in the third Linton generation, Leonard was proud to see his business expand to provide contract maintenance to corporate, residential and retail facilities across Canada.
Len touched so many lives with his wonderful smile and sense of humour. He founded and served as President of the Leaside Business Park Association for ten years and was honoured to have a park in Leaside named after him. He also served as Chair of The Sanfilippo Children’s Research Foundation Board for over 22 years.
A Celebration of Len’s Life will be held on Saturday September 10, 2022 with visitation at 2 pm and service at 3 pm at Spring Garden Church, 112 Spring Garden Avenue, (Yonge and Sheppard area) in North York. We will Livestream the service starting at 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity Leonard was passionate about: The Sanfilippo Children’s Research Foundation (alifeforelisa.org) or CAMH (camh.ca)
