Maria Peterdy

Passed away peacefully early Sunday morning October 17, 2010 in Hamilton with family by her side. Mária was born September 17, 1923 in Szepesremete Hungary, now Slovakia. "Mama" will be deeply missed by family and friends. Survived by son Michael (Aniko), granddaughters Ildiko and Andrea, and great-granddaughters Ava and Kira; survived by son Tomm and grandsons Kyle and Kory; survived by son Les (Laura) and grandchildren Balázs, Jorja and William. Mama was predeceased by daughter Katherine and husband Mihály, and survived in Slovakia by siblings József, Amália and Ella. A deeply devoted Catholic, Mária worked tirelessly for her Parish, St. Elizabeth of Hungary RCC and the Hungarian community in Toronto. Mária spent her final two and half years at the St. Elizabeth Retirement Villa in Hamilton. The family would like to thank all the caring and attentive staff at the Villa for helping make mum's final day's pleasant ones.

Friends may call on Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 3-5 and 7 - 9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary R. C. Church(432 Sheppard Avenue East). Interment to follow at York Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church or St. Elizabeth Villa.
