Mario Vettese

Mario Vettese, 90, of North York, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at North York General Hospital. Born in Cassino, Italy, he lived most of his life in North York where he enjoyed a successful career in construction and subsequently in real estate. He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Emma and their five children: Aldo, Fred (Michelle Massie), Tony (Nancy), Sandra (Jeff Verman) and Patricia (Martin Bunch). Mario was a passionate man who in his youth enjoyed bowling, bocce and the time he spent with his many friends. While he continued to attend to his business throughout his retired life, in his later years he devoted his considerable energies to cultivating his extensive garden, mushroom hunting and winemaking. He was especially proud of the business he had built in his adopted land and the life that it made possible for his family. Mario was very proud of the accomplishments of his five children and equally of his nine grandchildren: Gregory, Troy, Rebecca, Stephen, Michael, Christopher, Emily, Lauren and Nicholas. He is also survived by three brothers: Carmine, Alberto and Antonio. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 20th from 7 to 9 p.m. at R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street and also from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 21st. The funeral will be held at Blessed Trinity Church, at Bayview and Finch, on Monday, December 22nd at 10 a.m.
