Mary Elizabeth McCairns

On Tuesday, August 17, 2021 Mary peacefully passed from this world. Mary was predeceased by her first husband Charles (Podger) in 1963 and her second husband George in 2006.

Mary was born in Miramichi (Newcastle), NB and was the eldest of 12. Her brothers Robert and Paul are her two remaining siblings. She has many nieces and nephews across Canada and Australia.

She is sadly missed by her daughter Mary (John), grandsons Michael (JiYoung) and Evan (Ashley), Jessica, and Mary’s great grandsons Colton, Rylee, Jayden and Camden. Mary was an avid gardener. She kept active in a ladies’ bowling league, bowling up to the ripe old age of 95. Mary enjoyed many fun vacations with her late sister Barbara and often drove to her hometown with her sister-in-law Goldie at the wheel.

Mary lived in her own home for over 60 years. We are so thankful for her neighbours John & Maria Salituro who always watched out for her over the years.

Visitation for family and friends to be held at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home, 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill, (Yonge St. and Royal Orchard Ave. South of 407, North of Steeles).

Due to the ongoing restriction concerning attendance at the funeral services, the service is by invitation, only, and will be held at 2 p.m. Internment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Those interested in attending are encouraged to contact the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Society of Ontario or Kensington Health Foundation-Kensington Gardens. Donation links found below
