My condolence's to Mike's family,  friends, and loved ones.  Mike took an engineering course with me at YorkU and we spoke often after class.  He left a deep and positive impression, not just on me, but on many other students in the class.  He was a creative, highly intelligent, hard working, diligent, caring, and funny person.   This is such a sad loss, but I am happy for so many wonderful memories of Mike.

Mike was my husband’s labmate at York University, and I first met him at a Nowruz gathering. From the very first moment, he was incredibly kind and friendly. He asked us many questions about how we were settling in as newcomers, and he even tried to learn a few Persian words, which he pronounced amazingly well.
At the time, we had just moved to Canada, and everything felt unfamiliar. Mike told us how happy he was that we were here and welcomed us to Canada in such a sincere way. His words meant the world to us and gave us a sense of welcome and comfort during an overwhelming time.
My husband and I met him a few times in the Distillery District, and we always appreciated his kindness and friendship. When we stopped hearing from him, we didn’t know why, and only recently learned about his passing. We are deeply saddened, and we send our heartfelt condolences to his partner, his parents, and his brother.
He will be remembered with warmth, gratitude, and great respect.

Mike and I were friends in high school, and I always appreciated what a cool, easygoing guy he was. We didn’t stay in touch after those years, but I still remember his sense of humor and how he carried himself. Hearing of his passing hit me harder than I expected. 

Rest in peace, Mike. You’re remembered.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you're going through.  I hope that you're getting the support you need.  ❤️  Patty let me know about the funeral but I had just gone through a colonoscopy on Friday which showed everything was okay but I am still a little weak.
My cousin Donna lost her son last year to an accidental drug overdose.  I know she has support which helps.

Michael and I joined IBM on the same day. He was always willing to contribute to the team, and I truly enjoyed working with him. He also taught me how great it can be to have lunch and chat on the patio under the sunshine. He was a wonderful colleague and a great lunch mate.

Michael modified this Cub Cadet lawn mower he received as a gift from his friend Wellington. Eventually he welded a frame to the front with an electric winch to support raising and lowering the snow blower. The counter weight on the back was also welded on. He also replaced the belt drive with a chain drive.

With heartfelt sympathy to the entire family, we are so sorry to learn of Michael's passing.  Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.  Art has asked us to pass along a donation to honour Michael's memory (it is in Melissa's name as Dad has no computer availability).
We wish we were able to attend the service, but unfortunately, Art is being moved into an assisted care facility this weekend.

We will miss Michael deeply. We have such fond memories of celebrating many events together, especially at the barbecues & gatherings at the Abura home. Everyone loved Michael. He was kind and very smart. Always smiling and willing to help. We will miss him, but he will live forever in our hearts.
