Dear Aunt Margot and Callahan cousins: I was in Peru when Uncle Mike passed away and have just returned home. Unfortunately I was unable to be present at the funeral and I am now sending my deepest sympathy to all the family in the loss of Uncle Mike. I will also send a card shortly but wanted you to know that all of you and the repose of his dear soul are in my thoughts and prayers. He hung on under difficult medical circumstances. He was a strong and loving man. What I remember was that indomitable Callahan smile. He was always happy to see us as children and as we grew up, taking a great interest in what we were doing, where we were living and how we were doing along the road of life. Dear Mrs. Callahan, I noted the passing of your husband in the newspaper and wished to offer my sincerest condolences. My father, Frank McCarthy, was the Wing Commander for 420 Squadron when they were operational in Northern England flying Halifax's and Lancanster's. I know that if he were still alive, he would want me to acknowledge the contribution of all those, such as your husband, who served so bravely and gallantly. Though I do not know you personally, I would like to express my sympathy for the loss of Mr. Callahan after reading of it in the newspaper. When you lose someone dear to you, the pain and grief can seem unbearable. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, I draw comfort from the Holy Scriptures and I would like to share a wonderful promise with you. The Bible book of Revelation chapter 21 verse 4 shows that “God will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.” Imagine, a time where there is no sickness or death! Please be assured that our loving Creator understands what you are going through and may you find comfort in His promises.

"Mrs. Callahan", Steph, Matthew, Kelly, Megan, Margo, Helen, Bill, Michael and Families... It was with great sadness to read in the Star, this morning, about "Mr. Callahan's" (Mike's) passing.
