Mikio passed away peacefully on Saturday March 16 at the age of 91. He was born in Kitsilano, Vancouver. After leaving British Columbia in the late 1940s, he moved to Vineland where he worked in the fruit orchards before settling in Toronto. For 45 years he worked in the electrical distributing industry. He was a loyal, dedicated and hardworking employee. These were the values with which he brought up his family. He was a kind-hearted, friendly, generous man who had an infectious, warm smile, and was well liked by all.
Mikio is survived by his wife, Keiko, of 64 years, his children, Michael (Karen), Brenda (James), and Erin (Kevin); his grandchildren, Jonathan, Alison, Brandon and Andrew; his sisters Shizue Saito, and Fudge (Robert) Tanaka, sister-in-law Amy Shiga, brother-in-law Eddie (Jeannette) Hisaki and his dear friend Tak (Molly) Nagano. Mikio was predeceased by his sister Fumiye and brother Tommy Hayakawa and parents Masanori and Natsuno Hayakawa.
