We are saddened to announce the passing of Muriel Emily Corbet Thompson on December 30, surrounded by love. We are comforted in knowing that she lived a very rich life of 93 years, and touched many people’s lives. Mom was inspired by her many passions, including her love for nature, art and music, her spirituality, and her lifelong love of learning. She helped many people, sharing her skills and compassion as a nurse, a Christian educator and a social justice advocate with an open heart and youthful enthusiasm. Mom loved her family and her wide circle of friends deeply and wherever she went she ensured that everyone felt welcomed.
She will be missed by her daughters Pamela, Cynthia, and Paula (Gary), and her grandchildren Kellen (Leanne) and Alainna, Daniel and Lisette (Andrew), and Mariah and Cailey, her niece Suzanne (Charlie), nephew Michael (Manuela), and honourary son Vincent (Wai Ming) Ng. We will miss you dearly mom/nana, however, we are reassured to know that you have been reunited with dad (Allan, husband of 60 years) and your other friends and family who have journeyed before you. Thank you for sharing your love and passions, and know that these will live through us. We will tread lightly on the earth, and continue to give back, as you so lovingly did throughout your long life.
Thanks also to mom’s Delmanor Northtown and Amica Dundas families, to Mosaic Home Care Toronto and Home Instead Hamilton for the compassionate care mom received. In lieu of flowers, you may choose to donate to Plan Canada, Ontario Nature, Habitat for Humanity or St George on Yonge Anglican Church.
Plans for a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
