Passed away on Sunday April 21, 2013 in Toronto. Nik Penkarski came to Canada from Bosnia in 1956 and settled in Toronto and then Beaverton, Ontario. He was the beloved husband for over fifty years of Teresa Penkarski and the dear father of Mary of Quebec City and Joseph of Holland Landing. He was greatly loved by his granddaughters Elena, Ashley, Maïda, Devynn and Jaimee. Brother of Anka Toporowsky and Paul Pencarski in Canada and Ivan and Vladmir in Bosnia. Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 23rd from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge St., at Goulding, south of Steeles). Nik's funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 24th at 11 a.m. at St Volodymyr Ukrainian Catholic Church (15 Church Lane, Thornhill). Interment York Cemetery. If so desired memorial donations to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated by the family.
