It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce that Paul Frederick Woolston passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 12, 2021, with his children by his side. Paul was predeceased by his wife Muriel to whom he had been married for 62 years. He is survived by his daughter Deborah (Andy), his son Greg (Karen) his three grandsons, Ryan, Zachary and Noah and his cat Brittania.
Lovingly remembered as Grandaddy, Paul was born in Kettering, Northamptonshire into a family of 7. During WWII, at age 16, he attempted to enlist in the Royal Navy but could not convince his father to sign the paperwork. He went on to serve in the Fleet Air Arm for 7 years before he met Muriel at his sister's wedding. They emigrated to Canada in 1956 and never looked back. Paul worked for A.V. Roe until the cancellation of the Avro Arrow. He then retrained and began his career at Confederation Life from 1959 until his retirement in 1993. He was dedicated, hardworking and loyal. A man with integrity who advocated strongly for those who worked alongside him.
Always one with a dry wit, he challenged everyone with his “Jack of all trades” knowledge. He could “fix” anything. He confronted old age valiantly often diagnosing his ailments to the chagrin and respect of his physicians. Spending time with Muriel, reading and gardening though were his true passions. His tomato’s flourished under his green thumb. Books encircled both of them. And they were never too far from each other. All told, Paul was a loving and generous husband, father and grandfather who was always there for family and friends. He was a true gentleman, mentor of manners, a kind soul with a lions heart. He will be forever remembered. God Bless.
We would like to thank Nurses Maria and Jesse, Drs. Horowitz, Segal and James at Southlake Regional Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
In keeping with our family’s wishes, a private service will take place.
