It is with profound sadness that we announce Dad's passing, the result of complications from a fall at home on May 1st, just 6 months short of his 100th birthday. Beloved husband of Phyllis (2008) and devoted father of Peter (Juanita) and Don. Predeceased by siblings Douglas, Gordon, Ernest, Donald and Hugh. 'Uncle Paul' was adored by his many nieces and nephews spanning three generations. Dad was a great 'people person' with a wonderful sense of humour that was evident to the end. He made good use of these traits in a very successful advertising sales and management career with The Toronto Star, retiring in 1975. Blessed with good health, Dad really enjoyed his retirement years. Until his fall, Dad was fully engaged in life, closely following Canadian politics, the PGA, the 'Leafs' and particularly the 'Blue Jays'. He often said his family was the joy of his life and his sons took great pleasure in caring for him. Dad, you were a kind, classy, gentle man and we are honoured and so privileged to be your sons.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to family physician Dr. Douglas Goodall and the wonderful health care professionals at Toronto East General Hospital for their very kind and attentive care of Dad. Cremation has taken place. A 'Celebration of Life' Service for our adored father will be held at LifeStyle Apartments, 8 The Donway East on Sunday, June 6th with visitation at 1:30 and Service at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Toronto Star Fresh Air Fund would be much appreciated.
