With love and sadness, we share that our beloved mother, Pearl Yuk Gee Ing, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026 at Birchmount Hospital in Scarborough, at the age of 91, with all her family at her bedside.
She is lovingly remembered and will be deeply missed by her children, daughter Lily (Michael), son Gerry (Susan), daughter Helen, and son Ron (Patti).
Mom leaves behind a lifetime of wisdom, laughter and quiet strength that will remain with us in our hearts forever.
Born in Hoi Ping, Guangdong, on July 22, 1934, Pearl was the youngest child of Harry Fong and Nooe Hie Fong. Our mom had strong values, a great sense of humour and deep affection for her family. She spent her childhood in Hoi Ping and later moved to Hong Kong to share a place with her girlhood friends in the early 1950's. In 1955 she married Don Fin Ing in Hong Kong and shortly after the wedding moved to Canada. They made their life in northern Ontario, at first settling in Englehart and then moving to North Bay. Mom became a full-time housewife and her greatest pride and joy was always her family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, socializing with family and relatives, as well as many friends while in North Bay.
She devoted her time to creating a warm and welcoming home, where everyone felt cared for, listened to, and loved. Her thoughtful advice and guidance and her devotion to family helped to shape us into the people we are today.
After our family moved to Toronto in 1978 to start a new restaurant, mom worked alongside with dad and the entire family until their retirement. After moving to Scarborough, mom kept busy tending her garden, socializing with friends in the neighbourhood, going out for walks and having dim sum and meals with family, relatives, and friends. In their retirement years, mom and dad enjoyed many vacations including travelling across Canada and the U.S.A., many trips to China, Europe, and the Caribbean.
They moved to Mon Sheong Court Markham in 2017 and mom made many new friends while participating in the condo activities. After dad's passing a few years ago, mom kept busy with a lot more activities at the condo.
Mom accepted the Lord as her personal savior and was baptised in 2024. She lived a life marked by gentleness, generosity, and kindness. She showed love and patience to all around her and leaves behind a beautiful legacy and cherished memories among her family and friends. She is now at rest from her earthly pains and labours and has left us to be with dad.
While we will miss her dearly, her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and in the countless lives she touched along the way. She will always be lovingly remembered by her family, relatives, and friends.
Rest in peace, dear mom. We will meet again one day in the house of our Lord!
The Ing family would like to extend our gratitude and thanks to everyone for their love and support during this time.
A private funeral will be held at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home, Thornhill Chapel at 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill, Ontario L4J 1W3 on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, to honour Pearl Yuk Gee Ing. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.
