SMITH, Sister Rita Mary,(formerly Sister Eucharia, CSJ) died suddenly at St. Joseph's Convent, Toronto, on Monday, June 16, 2008. She is the daughter of the late John William Smith and Nora Muldoon. She is predeceased by her five brothers, Cecil, Martin, John, Stephen and Lawrence. She is survived by her only sister Nora, in California, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Sister Rita served in the health care ministry for many years. After a year of theology studies, in 1980, she moved into pastoral ministry and worked in the Canadian north-west for 19 years. Her later years were spent in the ministry of prayer and hospitality. Her wake will be at St. Joseph's Convent, 3377 Bayview Avenue, Willowdale, from 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18th, with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial is on Thursday, June 19th, at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
