To the Copelands,
Rob was a big presence at our house growing up.  He and the basement gang at McKee Ave were legendary!  And if the event wasn’t at McKee, it was always at Rob’s.  My brother John’s reply as he was leaving the house was “Goin’ to Rob’s”.  (Our favourite quote from the late 70’s and early 80’s!)  I am so sad to hear of Rob’s passing - he is gone too soon and too young.  He will stay in my memories always as a great guy and a great friend to so many.

Thank you to Rob Copeland for having been a friend during an important part of my life.   From  "Cope's Basement" ,  to the "A",
Dante's,  an Argos game, how about the Rolling Stones concert in Buffalo, NY with George Thorogood....fishing "up north"....the list is extensive!    I apologize for my Irish temper.   Thank you for the game of golf at Burnaby Mountain golf course  that time in BC.   See you at Pizzano's in Heaven  for a pint of cold draft  beer when I will be much less stressed out.

The Rob memories and stories from the years of Montreal races will live on. The one top of mind for me is eight big sausage fingers in eight cups of beer, hanging on to them as he trucked back to behind the stand at the race track, bringing a round for his buddies and leaving a foamy wet trail in his wake.  He was a generous man.

I am a lucky person to have had Robbie in my life, he was like my younger brother in my teens and early twenties.  A wonderful soul who had the most infectious laugh, I can hear you now.  I know he will be missed by many friends, relatives and Lynn, Ronnie and Brian. My sincere condolences to out to all.  He is now on a new journey and will be greeted with open arms by his ever loving mom Shirley

When I think of Rob, the words "open door" come to mind. No matter where he lived, his door was always open to visitors, even a lil rug-rat like me. Then I think of "more than,".  Rob was more than kind, more than generous, more than forgiving. His honest and sincere nature embodied "more than" the best qualities of any person. Rob, you will be more than missed. I love you Cope, my friend......Keep your door open.

How do you say goodbye to such a great friend? I can't accept a world without Rob in it. Rob butt-dialled me during a previous family gathering at Lynn's. When I saw his number on the call display and answered but got no response, I hung up and called him back. He was surprised to hear from me but chuckled about it when I told him he'd actually called me. We chatted and caught up, promised to get together again, maybe have another reunion at a pub with the gang. So sad that never happened. Rob, RIP, my friend. I love you, and I'll miss you always.

I have had the great good fortune to have had Rob’s friendship for over 40 years now. Those close to Rob know what it means to have him as a friend – you could always count on him, confide in him and benefit from his solid down to earth common sense. Rob was generous to a fault – I think all the crew at Cope’s basement benefitted from more than one beer and/or joint courtesy of Cope. The fact that Rob (and Mr. & Mrs. C) welcomed the neighbourhood riff raff into their home at any time of the day (or night) is evidence of his warm heartedness, camaraderie and friendship – Rob’s place, whether on Princess, Upper Canada or Carluke Cres were always a home away from home.
So glad to hear that Rob’s most recent memories were of celebration with family over the weekend and my heart goes out to his family. So very sorry to not have had a chance to say goodbye in person.

Little Bro, how I miss you. Your big bear hugs and the warm big hands on my back when you hugged me. My heart is aching right now and there is a hole which can't be filled. I know youll find happiness on the other side. Marley, Mom Dad, Syd are all waiting for you.  Be at peace. Ohh I miss you.

It is with great sadness, but a smile as big as the great outdoors when I think of Rob. He and his Family have tolerated me shown me kindness/love throughout our many years of friendship. Rob I'll see you on the other side.
