Sheila Esta Grant

Sheila Esta Grant (nee Baird) was born on August 5, 1936 in Bridgetown, Barbados; and departed this life January 31, 2025 in Toronto, Canada - after a complicated medical history spanning many years.

She was a beloved wife and mother, and a cherished friend to all who knew her. She loved to cook and to entertain, and she loved to dance and to play dominoes. And who could forget her smile. She always, always – always had a smile on her face.

She married St. Aubron Grant at the age of 20, and they remained together for 68 blessed years. Together, they emigrated to Canada in 1961. She had 4 children, and in turn 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and there is another great grandchild on the way.

For 32 years Sheila worked at Toronto General Hospital, and then Toronto Western Hospital, before retiring in 1996 at the age of 60.

Mom and Dad loved to travel and they have been on many trips over the years - including her last cruise Jan 10 - Jan 26, 2025. Yes, she was cruising just a week before she passed.

She is gone from here and from us, but she is reunited with her parents - Merton and Viola Baird - both of whom passed in 1988 and 1989 respectively, and with her only sibling, her sister Ureita Bullen, who passed in 2003.

We loved her. We will miss her. We won’t forget her.

A Visitation for Sheila will be held Friday, February 14, 2025 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes - Thornhill (8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill).

A Funeral Service will occur at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes - Thornhill on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11:00am. Following the funeral service there will be a Reception and then Burial at Elgin Mills Cemetery.
