

It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Tanita, 78 years old, of Pickering, Ontario. She died peacefully on July 25, 2017 in Pickering after a long and brave battle with Parkinson's disease.
Tanita was born in Riga, Latvia to Janis and Olga Milman on August 21, 1938. She went on to earn a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Paris in Paris, France. She worked as a chemist for the University of Toronto. She enjoyed playing bridge and became a Bronze Life Master bridge player. She was a member of the Latvian sorority Varaviksnes.
Tanita is survived by her children Laila Zuccherato (Robert) and Lars Svekis (Vicki). Grandmother of Kevin, Simon, Alexis and Sebastian. Dear sister of Mara Hollevoet (Christian) of Gaillac, France and remembered by nieces and nephews.
The family would especially like to thank the staff at Orchard Villa Long-Term Care in Pickering for the help and care that they provided to Tanita during her final years.
Friends may call at the R. S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street (at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Saturday, July 29 from 10am until time of service at 11am. Interment will follow at York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Road, North York.
Memorial donations may be made to The Movement Disorders Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital which helped her deal with her Parkinson's disease for many years.
