

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Paul, and survived by her children Anne, Marie, Joseph, and their spouses Raymond and Mary Lynn; grandchildren Iris, Phillip, Lauren, Jessica, Kristen, Adam, and their spouses Jason, HT, Ethan, and Courtney; great-grandchildren Theo, Lily, Nolan, Milo, Jordan, Madeleine and Parker.
Lai Ping was born in Zhongshan(中山), Canton, China on January 7, 1928 where she survived the hardships of war and cultural revolution. She then went to Hong Kong to start a new life and a family before immigrating with her husband and children to Canada in 1963 where she worked as a seamstress for some years. In the years that followed she never stopped expressing herself through her garment creation, crafts, and animated storytelling. Her favourite pastimes included spending time with her family, Mah Jong, needlework, and watching videos of her great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Chinese Martyrs Catholic Church in Markham.
A visitation for Teresa Lai Ping will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill, ON L4J1W3. A Catholic funeral service will occur Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill, ON L4J1W3, followed by a committal burial at 12:30 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 8361 Yonge St, Markham, ON L3T 3M1.
Donations honouring Lai Ping may be made to the Scarborough Health Network General Hospital Palliative Care Unit, where she received the greatest of care.
