Yasuo Hasebe, known to friends as "Yas," passed away on December 9th, 2019, at the age of 73 years.
A native of Kobe,Japan he attended Kobe University and graduated with a Master’s degree in Economics.
Immediately upon graduating University he started his career at the prestigious and elite Japanese company Marubeni LTD where he worked his way up to Vice President of Marubeni Canada until his retirement in 2015. Yasuo was an outstanding athlete, a track star in high school and university competing at the National level, the number 2 pitcher (baseball) at Nagata High School who occasionally qualify for Koshien and also a Soccer star who played for Marubeni in the Japanese Industrial league.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Deborah (nee Van Beek), sons Ryan and Robert, his Grandson Kai and his sister Tomoko. Yasuo will also be fondly remembered by his niece Ai, his grandnephew June, his grandniece An, his brother in law Masanori and his daughters in law Irei and Rachel.
A Celebration of Yasuo’s life will be held from 4pm-8pm on Monday December 16th, at the Kane Jerrett Funeral Home, 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill., Ontario. Memorial donations in memory of Yasuo can be made to Mackenzie Health Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society.
